Several years ago, over a shared passion for making people happy with great food, Ryan & Geri Martha O'Hara of Big Spoon Creamery and Jim & Amy Watkins of Steel City Pops became fast friends. It seemed like every time we were together, we would discuss fun ideas we all had about food. Sons Donuts was born from these times together and the name is a nod to our families having five sons between us (no daughters, yet!). After three years of sharing our donuts with friends and family, tweaking and perfecting our recipes, we are so excited to be finally sharing them with our community!

Chuy's opened on April 16, 1982 in an old, abandoned Texas Barbeque joint on iconic Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX. There was seating for about sixty, a women's restroom the size of a broom closet and a men's restroom that was, well, outside. Founders Mike Young and John Zapp had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone. From these humble beginnings Chuy's was born.
